Community Meeting - October 2026
Update from Michael, CHERMA President ANNUAL COMMUNITY MEETING Tentative date: Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Time and location: Awaiting confirmation. Michael says the official meeting notice must be sent between 21 and 60 days in advance, and the community generally aims for the third week of October. He plans to send proxy forms and more election details about a month before the annual meeting. HOW BOARD ELECTIONS WORK There are two separate steps: 1. The community elects the directors. Members first vote on how many directors will serve on the Board. There are currently five seats, with a preliminary vote planned to consider expanding the Board based on the number of interested candidates. Members then select their preferred directors, up to the number of available seats. 2. The elected Board chooses its officers. The new directors decide who will serve as president, treasurer, secretary, and vice presidents. If they do not agree on an officer assignment, a majority vote of the Board decides. As Michael explains, these are not one-versus-one elections for individual officer positions. The two steps were combined in the past because the Board was formed collaboratively rather than through a contested election. BOARD PARTICIPATION Michael reports that the current Board supports its direction of fiscally responsible maintenance of all seven miles of community roads, supports his continuing as president, and welcomes additional directors. He describes the past two years as a period of progress toward stronger finances and continued road maintenance. George Shaw and Nick Canada have volunteered in response to the call for more vice presidents. Michael welcomes others who are willing to help neighbors across the mountain and says the Board would like to expand to include additional community-minded volunteers. GOVERNING DOCUMENTS Michael's original email included the bylaws adopted in 2024 and the original articles of incorporation for members to review. This post summarizes Michael's email. The October 21 date remains tentative until the official meeting notice is issued.
